Pandesal

Making pandesal is not that new to me since when we had Home Economics in the school, we are taught about making a variety of breads (different kinds of bread by groups).

My H.E. teacher's recipe, her homemade pandesal..using wheat flour.

Here's how to make:

I did not be able to take a shot of the dissolving yeast. It's fine, you just have to mix 3tsp of instant yeast with 1/4c sugar and 1 1/2c water then set aside.

Mix together the dry ingredients:
3 1/2 c Wheat Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt

Add 1-2 eggs to the yeast mixture and 1/4 c shortening (I used crisco). Then mix in the dry ingredients.

Knead until smooth and somewhat sticky. (I am super tamad mag-knead so it came like that in the photo but it came out ok naman). Form it into a ball and cover with damp cloth ( i did not use damp cloth) but they said it is better to use one. Let the dough rise (30 to 45 minutes) in a warm place until doubled as shown below.

Punch down and let it take a nap for 10 minutes.

Then divide it by two and make it like rollers. (It depends on how big you want it to be.

Cut it into small sizes and roll on bread crumbs.

Arranged it in a greased baking sheet.

Let it rise again.....
